Data Cables Advice Needed

I have recently bought a nec 338 and would like to download some mp3s from my laptop to it. Could anyone tell me if the cd rom software that you get with USB cable is essential to allow me to do this? I have seen it for £30 but think this is a bit steep. Any advice would be appreciated.

check on ebay, most data cables go for about £5-£7.

    hope this helps,

Thanks for that.... I had already looked on e-bay but was a bit unsure whether to buy as the software is not the original disc ie copied and e-mailed to you.
Does anyone know if the software is needed?

Doing an MSN/Kelkoo shopping search, I came across it for £24.99 from FoneJunkie.com (includes software).

You can get it from DirectMobileAccessories.co.uk for £10.49 but this doesn't seem to include the software (i'm not sure if you can download it from NEC's website like you can the Nokia software!)

I'm only guessing but you probably would need the software to transfer files.

I had an NEC e606 and you HAD to use the original software with it, nothing else would work. Probably best not to risk it :)
