Money Savers Arms

Last ooorders!… We’re sorry but for now, due to resources, we need to close the Money Savers Arms including Discussion Time.

It’s not easy to write this. We love the forum, but we also have a job to do to protect it, our users and MoneySavingExpert, and at the moment, with all our resources focused on Coronavirus information, and all the team at home, we don’t feel we have the resources to do a good enough job.

For four months, we’ve been struggling to cope with the huge volumes of messages we’ve been getting from Forumites – many of whom are in desperate and dire straits with their finances. The team have been working all hours to try and keep on top of it. At first we thought it’d be a short sharp spike, but it isn’t, it’s continuing, so we have had some difficult choices to make about prioritisation.

Unfortunately in, and likely because of, these stressful times, the Forum team have also been receiving an increasing number of complaints about posts made on the Money Savers Arms and Discussion Time. The team have done what they can to try and walk the tightrope of balancing all the various interests, but for now we need to draw a line under this and temporarily close this Board, so we can keep the key, MoneySaving boards – where people are supporting each other through this crisis - running smoothly.

We know this board is important to you, but as the MSE stance has been forbearance throughout this crisis, now we ask that of you. We’re sorry. Of course you can post on other boards, but we’d ask you to stick to the subjects of those boards, and not use them as a surrogate Money Savers Arms or Discussion Time. And as always please be kind and friendly to each other, especially any newbies.

Thanks
MSE Forum Team

Yes and it also affects the way any meds that you might be taking react.

This is why I was so annoyed at them more than anything else :(

I am also a bit grumpy because I am having a bit of a flare up again this week :o

I don't have anything nearly as bad as Crohns but I also get "episodes" and yes, they do make you ratty :(

    I've been Money Tipped!
Noticed a stench in house yesterday smelt like damp/something beginning to rot, today it was much stronger.

Turns out when friend arrived Friday afternoon I was in process of defrosting a piece of chicken in the microwave and thought I put it back in fridge.

    Turned out I didn't

Only worked out about £1.20 loss but it was from bulk buy I got from butchers.
  • I applied for a balance transfer credit card (I only need to transfer £600!) and the limit they gave me - straight away - was £5,100!!

I'll be honest - I was a little shocked" I thought credit card limits were supposed to start very low!

I did have the foresight to make them ask me before increasing my limit....

I guess it's irritating because that's a lot of credit to give someone straight away!

Need any help to spend the extra £4500? ;)

There's one card I only use for online purchases, and from time to time they tell me they're upping my credit limit, so I always use the option to keep it the same instead. I feel it's safer.

This is the problem with the higher credit limits. Some people run up big bills then get hit with all the interest, which is how the credit card companies make their dosh. They don't like people like me who clear the balance every month and incur no charges.

    Exactly!

I won't be using it unless it's for things that I can claim money back if there are issues - such as flights etc. I learned that from my Monarch debacle!

No doubt in my mind that you can dig yourself a bigger hole with that little piece of plastic, than with a large shovel.
I was hardly ever using mine so I let it go. I always paid it off straight away anyway.
