Universal Credit

Hi all

New here but have a question.

I have been offered a job today of 18.5 hours. This means I will still be reliant on housing benefit. I have spoken to the HB and they are changing to Universal credit in July. looking about UC it says that claiming it I will still have to go to the job centre to have interviews and look for more hours.

My question is this, can I claim just the housing element of the UC or does it come as package and will have to continue to go to the job centre.

Thank you.

If you are already on housing benefit, then you will stay on housing benefit.

You would only claim UC if it was a brand new claim - and no you can't just claim the housing costs element of UC, you would have to claim it all which means, as you pointed out, that you will be subject to work search requirements.
