Prescription Exemption question

Hi,
Sorry it is another prescription exemption question, having just read the other thread further down about free prescriptions.
The circumstances are, on my usual repeat prescription at the chemist I get four items. Three of the items are covered by my exemption certificate but the fourth isn’t.
I thus sign the prescription and tick the exemption box, but I also pay in cash for the one item I don’t get an exemption for. Although I am usually given a till receipt for the item I purchase I must admit I haven’t kept the receipts.
Having read the ‘free prescriptions’ thread I am now a bit worried about having ticked the box (I cannot remember which letter it is now). Should in future I annotate where I sign to say it is just for items one, two and three and note that I pay for the fourth?
I just don’t want to receive a fine for something I haven’t done wrong (I will keep the receipts for the paid item from now on).
Thank you

Why arent all your meds covered by the exemption ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Why arent all your meds covered by the exemption ?
Hi,
The first three items are covered by my war pension exemption certificate which only 'covers' me for prescriptions relating to my accepted war pensionable injuries (leg amputation - post amputation pain and skin condition from my prosthetic etc).
The fourth item is not related to my war pensionable injuries, it is for an ongoing eye problem so I have to pay for this item.

It certainly wouldn't do any harm to annotate as you suggest. Alternatively, would your GP issue a separate prescription for the non exempt item?0

Hi,
Many thanks.
I didn't realise I could possibly have it split onto a seperate prescription form as it is all done electronically. I will pop into the surgery next week and ask if they can do it for next time.
However, the worry is that I have a prescription waiting for me at the chemist which I need to collect tomorrow as I am low on meds. I will annotate the prescription where I sign it to point out I am paying for item 4, plus I will keep the receipt this (and possibly future) times!
Thanks again.

Although the prescription is raised electronically, your GP has to indicate which items are to go onto it. I'm currently in a situation where I get 3 months supply for one of my meds, but only 1 months for another. The 1 month is for a new item which they want to keep a check on.0
