I'm in Bath and only get a relay arial reception, which means I only get minimum freeview channels.
Can anyone recommend the best route to go down in order to get decent freeview plus broadband for a low price?
Currently I'm with Talktalk but their connection is constantly dropping so I'm thinking it's time they were given the elbow.

Freeview is via an Aerial .0

Unless you can receive an adequate signal from your nearest main station at Mendip, then you are going to be stuck with the limited number of Freeview channels that the Bath relay transmits.
It could be worth considering Freesat, as that will give you most of the channels that the full Freeview service transmits. Of course, you will need a dish and visibility of the Astra satellite, which may be a problem for you.
If your current BB is not very good, then you may find online streaming a bit of a problem. Perhaps a fibre upgrade would help?0 -
I'm in Bath's bowl bottom so can't get the Mendip signal.
I did consider freesat but that doesn't help the broadband issue and I don't want to pay out any more than I have to.
I was thinking maybe virgin was the answer but no-one seems to have anything good to say about them.
I don't want any more channels than freeview provides either so is Sky a pointless option or a contender?0 -
Virgin would be your best route .
Note this forum or others rarely if ever give reviews for a good service . Perceived bad service lets scream and shout everyplace .
Freeview wont work , you don't want Freesat and want CHEAP broadband you really have little or no options .0 -
If Virgin supplies your property, then that could be the way to go.
I believe that there are some good deals for new customers.0 -
I think my neighbour has virgin so I guess it's a goer. I'll look into it.
Thanks.0 -

Virgin and Sky, on the other hand, charge an extra monthly subscription for television.
Your choice who to pay for broadband and/or landline telephone provision...0 -
Minimum virgin is £45 a month after the first year too. That's more than double what I currently pay. Not worth it just so I can watch MASH occasionally.0

You'll probably find that you'll have the same issues with any BB supplied via your telephone line no matter who supplies it. Your neighbour may have Virgin BB, but check whether that is phone line or cable - the best option for quality is if you are in a cabled area, which usually means Virgin.
Price is another matter of course. We've just had a new fibre optic installation in our neighbourhood which means we'll have access to super fast BB, but only if we go to Virgin when it's all switched on, and the early indications are that it will be expensive.0 -
Virgin no longer offer BB down a BT phone line. This was all sold off to Talktalk and then Fleur/Daisy Telecom over two years ago.
I know, as I was a satisfied Virgin National offnet customer for 20 years and then just dumped!0
