Do you still get full JSA if you start a job working 6 hours in total a week?

The jobcentre said I still get full JSA until my first wage from my employer (I work 6 hours a weeks)..I thought they would decrease my JSA as soon as I started working rather than wait for my first pay day, I just don't want them to tell me to give it back in future if I'm not entitled to it.

Have you looked into Universal Credit?
Unlike JSA, you could claim Universal Credit whilst working. Instead of being in a position where you could be told to pay back the benefit at a later date, Universal Credit will just be reduced in response to your earnings.
Whilst you are on JSA, you could well run into the problem where your entitlement to benefit is miscalculated - causing an over-payment.0
