recently i contacted sky to enquire about there package,i got the tv package and needed a phone line aswell, they told me to get a bt line in the house then they can switch over the line ,i was told by the sky advisor that once i got the bt bill of 124.99 to send a copy to them then it will be credited to my account if i take there phone service, i had asked the advisor 3 times if that was right she said yes as long as i take the sky phone service it would be credited.
I sent them the copy of the bt bill and they sent a letter back saying i would need to have the broadband before they will credit the sky bill, So i sent another letter explaining that the advisor had not told me to take the broadband service to get the bill credited and that i asked the advisor 3 times but they sent another letter saying that they wont be crediting the account.
anyone got any ideas or have i been ripped off i only took the phone line cause of them saying they would credit the bt line.
thanks

Hi jfk32
I have signed up with Sky today and I was persuaded mainly because they have promised to credit the £124.99 to my account as I am switching from cable specificially to get Sky. I was told the same as you but I was also told that I had to sign up to the package in advance of getting BT/OpenReach to install the phone line, so the note has been placed on my account. Was this the same for you, or did you get the phone line before ordering the Sky package? One other thought is that you might need to be a brand new customer, as returning ex-Sky customers may not qualify? I hope I get my £124.99 back...0 -
I am a new customer with sky they told me i needed to get the bt line in the house. i want to get the broadband but you need the bt landline number so they can check what broadband connection i can get which was broadband connect at £17.00 which was no good as i wanted the 16meg, they seem to con you into the bt line and not hold to there bargain.i was happy with virgin phone line now its cost me 124.99 for bt.0

Hi, I apologies in advance for the length
I have also recently signed up to Sky - switching from Virgin media where I had TV, phone and broadband - having been told that I could get the 8mb broadband for £5 (most BT landlines only give you a max of 6.5mb anyway and that's if you're lucky) along with the phone and TV (4 mixes plus sport and movies) the old 'see, speak and surf'. Sky advisor told me to sign up to TV, get a BT line installed and 'simply' call back to sort out the rest. Received my letter saying they would reimburse £124.99. Like yourself I was told only £17 broadband was available when I phoned back and that a postcode check should have been done originally when I made the first call. I was fuming  as i'd been lied to. Phoned around departments and customer services told me to email SKY as emails go to head office where it would be sorted out for me. Not being sceptical that they won't reply (and the fact my TV install is tomorrow) I phoned back for a resolution. Explained that I would not be taking there £17 broadband as they were ripping me off and that they had lied. I said I wanted them to still cover the £124.99 for installation plus the £70 for cancelling BT. The lady said that it wouldn't be a problem and that she's made a note on my account. All I have to do is send in a copy of the bills.
I checked numerous times that even though it says in their terms and conditions you must have placed a broadband order to receive a refund, but she said 'no it's OK and they will refund me'
All seems too easy and can't see me not having to make more phone calls. I would cancel their TV as well but that would mean demanding a cash refund instead of a credit to my account which I think would prove an even bigger headache.
I'm really cheesed off with them and if they don't credit my account I can smell some legal action.
I should have stuck with virgin - something I never thought I’d say even though they offered a very good deal to stay - but looks like I’ll be going back to their phone and broadband at least.
Don't know if you are interested but there phone and broadband basics together are £15.50 a month and installation will be £5 if you do it all online - don’t quote me!! Not the fastest net in the world (2mb cable) but no BT landline of £11 a month plus Sky broadband £17 = £28 a month.
I look forward to hearing how you get on. Likewise I’ll keep you posted.0 -
Hi just a question to CMS2008 what was the email address were you given to contact SKY as i want to send them one due to the postal strike.
thankz0 -
The advisor told me to email it to mysky@bskyb.com. I made it clear on my email to make sure it got to the right person if this wasn't the correct address. Not sure if it's worked yet!0
