Hi all,
We (M - 27, F - 29) are looking for a holiday in the next couple of weeks to 'get away from it all'.
We have enough holiday for a week away and would prefer a tue-tues, wed-wed style holiday as it fits in with work better...
We are stuck for where to go and would appreciate any advice..
we'd like:
Warm weather (over 25 degs)
near or on coast (ideally lovely blue/clear waters and sandy beaches)
has places to site see nearby.
Not full of tourists.
Nice (4/5* accomodation) - AI or HB
no real price limit as such but don't want to pay through the roof...
We often go on relaxing beach holidays but would like to do a bit more this time and go off for the day visiting local attractions...
We have been to the following before and don't really want to repeat ourselves: Sydney, NZ, singapore, france, san fran., NY, LA, tenerife, lanzarote, gran canaria, mexico (caccun)...
We don't want Egypt or somewhere with any potential for being unsafe as I like my holidays to be relaxing and have no tenseness at all... I'm sure they're fine but not for us...
I prefer the more 'english' spoken places...
Our thoughts have been:
dom. republic - often busy, waters not great
cyprus - bit touristy although heard weater is good at minute
mallorca - still to research but possibly
Italy - weather nice at minute but not our normal beach style
cape verde - not much to do
any advice or suggestions welcome...
Thanks for your help

Hi again,
Well we spent last night phoning up some unhelpful agents from teletext, we got the feeling they didn't want to help us find somewhere we'd want to go and just wanted to sell us what they wanted...
We then spent the time trawling the net and checking out the weather for the various possibilities.
It looks like the Caribbean is having a bit of rain at the min (it is the season I guess) and we realised that a long haul flight will either cost us an extra days holiday (as the flights tend to return at silly a.m.) and/or take up a substantial amount of our holiday travelling... so we are concentrating more on the med...
We've been looking at Turkey and Greece and their surrounding islands. Cephalonia (or Kefalonia) appealed but the weather in these regions appears to be a bit cooler at the minute, low-mid twenties where as we were hoping for something a bit warmer...
We've also thought about going to Italy as this has beaches and sightseeing areas, but always though of italy as more of a long weekend than a weeks holiday...
Any thoughts???
Thanks

We came back from Greece about 10 days ago. Stayed at Aegean Village Hotel on Kos. Great Hotel about 10 mins walk from a lively resort of bars (which we enjoyed too!). You can do a day trip to Turkey as it is only just across the water.
Will be getting quiet there now and weather is cooling down but probably about as hot as you will get in Europe? We had temps averaging about 28 during day with a couple of days over 30. Evenings still warm enough to go out in just a shirt.
Lots of choice in the Greek Islands so you could find something that fits your needs but you may have to take a chance on the weather - at this time of year it is cooling down a bit.
A work mate managed to find a reasonable price on a 2 for 1 deal to the Maldives. I think there was a bomb there recently but I guess chances of a repeat are not high and it may have put others off so you could pick up a deal?
You may find most places in the sun at the moment are full of OAP's so you may feel a bit out of place!0 -
Hawaii ? You may even get a last minute cruise deal that will allow you to do several of the islands?

Hawaii is too far to fly for a week as it takes about 15 hours to fly there, how about Dubai? No man is an island ....unless his name is Madagascar!0

If Hawaii is too far and you are willing to try Dominican Republic then what aboout Las Vegas?
