First Anniversary Combo Breaker
Good morning all,

I have spent days reading reviews and am still as confused as to which phone to go for as I was before I started. My head is spinning from the dizzying amount of choice available.

The main features in a new handset that are important to me are a battery that won't drain away by the end of the day and a great camera for taking mostly outdoor shots of my dog. My last phone was a Samsung Galaxy S6 which is now dead but I have gotten used to the S6 photo quality. Are there any budget phones which can match it, but also boast good battery life?

£250 is (ideally) my maximum budget, but the cheaper the better.

Can anyone advise please?

NOT Motorola or Lenovo (who are now part of the same company.) Their after sales 'support' is abysmal. If you do buy one then get it from a reputable third party retailer, as at least then you won't have to deal with Motorola/Lenovo if anything goes wrong.

Yeah, the Moto G5 Plus is supposed to have a good camera. It's not out yet though - maybe six more weeks.

Maybe look at the phones from OnePlus?

I'm not on a contact. Just paying £10 per month to Giffgaff each month on a non-contract sim-only deal for 2GB of data and some texts and minutes.

S7 would be good! Can't see anyone else doing the G5 for under £150 any more.

GiffGaff have refurbished S6 at £319, above your budget but you are familiar with this phone and it will make you happy. Apologies I appreciate this is outside of your stated budget

    Not a good deal.

    S7 @ e2save is £23.49 per month x 24 month with EE.
    2GB, 1000 min.

I've seen it £20.99 couple weeks ago...

The Lenovo P2 has unmatchable battery life and costs £200 unlocked from 3.It will soon have the Nougat update.
Now,before someone shouts out the camera is it's weak point, all the reviews I've read say it's low light/indoor photos that aren't great, outdoor are fine.Plus I believe the default camera app leaves something to be desired and can be bettered by installing Open camera.
    Maybe worth a look OP
