Locking sliding patio doors from the outside

Hi,
Any ideas for the best way to lock patio sliding doors from the outside?
We have a hot tub which we have set up in part of the garden that runs down the side of our house. We basically come out of the patio doors, turn right and double back on ourselves so the back of the house and doors are completely out of sight.
Although unlikely, someone could just over the fence and go in to our house without us being able to see or hear them when we are in it... so wanted a way to lock it from the outside when we are in the hot tub.
There's been a few car thefts in the town recently where people broke in to houses just for the car keys, so want to be safe
I bought an extra lock for the doors when we first moved in for the inside which was one where you drill a hole in the frame and a bolt slides in. Was initially thinking to buy the same for the outside, but then thought that as it would be unlocked 95% of the time and the rain etc would just end up rusting it and possibly water getting in to the frame through the drill holes,..
thanks,

Get a lock that is a mirror image inside and out?
Not sure if one would fit your door but have one on mine!
Unfortunately I have no details so I am not a lot of help.... :-(0 -
Failing that you could get an alarm for the doors. You can get ones that you can switch on an off, so you would only have to have it on when you're using the hot tub.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

thanks,.. not sure this is possible on this one,... the house was built in 1989 and think this is the original, so pretty old. There is just a sliding catch inside and a single lock underneath it, nothing on the outside at all,0 -

And a suitable euro cylinder might be the ticket0
