tHE PRICE OF FLIGHTS FROM NORTHERN IRELAND

mY SISTER HAS BOUGHT AN APARTMENT IN SPAIN, GREAT YOU SAY BUT WE ARE JOINING HER IN MARCH. SHE IS FLYING FROM GATWICK FOR £60 RETURN EACH AND WE ARE PAY £167 EACH FROM BELFAST. WITH THE SAME AIRLINE. WHY ARE NORTHERN IRELAND PEOPLE STILL PAYING THROUGH THE NOSE FOR FLIGHTS. THE BUDGET AIRLINES SHOULD APPLY THE SAME PRICES THROUGH OUT THE UK.

OBVIOUSLY THE AIRLINES ARE ALL RACIST.

Or it could be down to supply and demand.

    a) Supply & demand

    b) Belfast is further from Spain than Gatwick so more fuel burned & less flights per day so the fixed costs of operating an aircraft are spread over fewer passengers

It's supply and demand. There is less supply from the regions than there is from London. It can be annoying, when I fly easyjet it's much more convenient for me to go from Bristol, but I almost always end up at Luton because the flights are cheaper.

Why not book Belfast-London and then London-Spain? Not as convenient, but might work out cheaper.

how about flying to Gatwick and staying at your sisters house whilst she's not in it, shorter flight, should be cheaper

THE BUDGET AIRLINES SHOULD APPLY THE SAME PRICES THROUGH OUT THE UK.

I do so agree. And of course that should apply to flights within the UK, so that a flight from Exeter to Edinburgh should cost the same as a flight from Edinburgh to Edinburgh, ie, nothing. That way, I could get free transport for all my journeys within the UK...

It's that damn Capitalisation Tax that puts the price up. Try using fewer capital letters and see if the price comes down.

  • Mo, there's loads of reasons you could be paying more out of Belfast, demand, when you're flying, distance, connecting flights, loads.

But it is possible to get cheap flights from NI - I manage quite often for relatives over there. Booking early is always a good idea. Oh, and considering flying from Dublin as well as Belfast is useful - my Uncle/Aunt/Cousin who live in NI nearly always fly from Dublin.

Actually, the cheapest way I could get from Scotland to France this year was flying through Dublin ...

hi there I also live in Belfast and find it very hard to get cheap flights to Spain ,I find it a lot cheaper flying from Dublin and only £13.80 return on the bus you save quite a lot, may be 1/2 price ,ie I have got 6 flights to Tenerife in Jan for £240 for the lot ,that £40 return each from Dublin ,let any airline from Belfast beat that
