I changed banks letter, LOL

My very first post here. But I`m always lurking. :T
I claimed bank charges on behalf of my son (before court case was announced).
Barclays offered him a lower amount, with a letter stating, that, if he accepted the lower amount, it would be in, full & final payment.
He decided to accept this, incase the test case was lost. He had to sign a form with this statement on it.
I decided to copy the banks acceptance letter, but, with a few alterations.
I wrote that he accepted the lower amount, but, (if the test case came out in our favour) that he reserved the right to claim all additional amounts from the previous claim, plus any new charges that had been put against his account.
I expected a letter by return, saying that he had to agree to the banks terms & conditions or not at all. But approximately two weeks later the money was in his account.
I`m not sure if this information is of any help to anyone.
I hope an advisor will tell me if it is.
