Can you not ask the interviewer or interview offerer?

Is the interview on a Friday? That's 'dress down' in most places don't forget.
Went to an insurance company that even has it's own TV ad and I remember they were incredibly relaxed in insurance retention and I think they may even have apologised for their attire when on a Friday - though all they were scoring was about was the roleplay and interview.

I remember one hot summers day feeling incredibly uncomfortable as only one in wearing the suit - and it showed so I'm past prim and proper. And even that was a position once started the company provided their own shirts. I'd never have got the colour scheme!! Lol!!

I'd wear the DB shirt but tuck it in and polish those shoes ! but then you are speaking to the girl who wore a quite cheap penguin red 'from Asda Christmas' blouse under jacket to her interviews at Christmas time and still got a job regardless.

It's tomorrow yes, but I ordered a pack of smart suit shirts which were delivered today. I was thinking whether people have to always dress in plain shirts to interviews, or whether a checkered smart shirt would be okay. I'm not a fan of plain shirts, but if it needs be then I will wear it of course. I just like to wear something that makes me feel a little more stylish than the norm.

Sorry chap, there's nothing stylish or smart about that shirt!

Haha, that's my sort of style. I like check shirts, especially in summer to wear casually. Everybody has different tastes

I run a haulage business and drivers aren't necessarily known for their sartorial elegance. However, if two drivers who are in all other respects equal are being interviewed, the job would go to the smarter of the two. It just says that I take a bit more care about things - hopefully those 'things' translate to whatever business it is.

When I interviewed staff for my former business then appearance played a big part in my decision making. It would not make me take on an otherwise unsuitable candidate, but would make me rule out even an apparently fantastic applicant.

My thought process was that if someone failed to put much effort into their appearance for a job interview then how much effort would they put into performing the actual job?

I wouldn't wear a check shirt of any sort to an interview. Plain white will always be a good option, but if you don't like plain at all then you can probably get away with a not-too-garish striped shirt.

I always think its much better to overdress for a situation than to under dress. It's never a bad thing to look smart.

It's a job interview, not the Pitcher & Piano. Who are you trying to out-style, the interviewer or the rival candidates?

I like checked shirts too and I have some that I might just get away with at an interview at a hip Shoreditch IT company. But not one that looks like it was made from a Scotsman's kilt.

If you feel restricted in smart !!!!!! you are buying the wrong size.
