Starting from scratch and using Resolver to claim

Hi

After seeing programme the other night on this I want to triple check if my husband and I have anything to claim. I've sorted out my own (only 1 credit card ever listed it). For my husband I'd be surprised if he didn't have PPI on any, but he doesn't have paper work. He's pretty convinced he wouldn't have had on CC as if he'd seen it on a statement he would have cancelled it, but he did have multiple loans from some of the big offenders (Lloyds / Egg / Northern Rock)

So, question is, can I simply use Resolver to contact each lender without first knowing for definite if PPI is there, or do I need to establish that first?

Thanks!

In January I submitted a couple of speculative complaints through Resolver re PPI. I've just received a reply from both. One states I never had PPI with them (I was confident of this but did it anyway) but the other has upheld my complaint and has agreed to pay a total of £5500. I had a vague memory of having a PPI policy with them but no idea of dates, etc. If you have even the faintest memory of having a policy it is well worth a crack.

Resolver is for complaints. Obviously, if you don't have any PPI then you have no complaint.

If you make a complaint, the Bank will take around 8 weeks to respond. If you enquire whether there was PPI (especially via telephone), you'll know immediately if there was PPI and you will be able to construct a far more robust complaint.

Do note that it is not somehow wrong simply having PPI. In order for it to refunded, it has to have been mis-sold to you.

Since every complaint is unique, it is best if you write in your own words rather than a template etc.

Do note that you are not obliged to use Resolver, you can write direct to the financial institutions yourself.
