Please can you help my elderly mum get a fairer Home Insurance (contents) premium?

HI, OK my elderly mum has dementia, and I as her only son and carer am trying to get her the best home insurance (which is just for contents) premium.
As my mum is mostly housebound, and I am her carer this means that very rarely is the house left unoccupied. I am hoping this must affect the premium than has previously been calculated. So please will you review the details and let me know if it is best to try and get fairer premium with my mum's Home (contents) insurance, The Prudential, which has been with for many years?

It is due for renewal on 19th January 2017

Please let me give details:
The premium for your home this year is £212.30

CONTENTS:
Sum insured: £52, 000
Valuables limit: £15,600
Valuables single article limit: £2,000
Policy excess £75:00

Home Emergency Legal Protection: Up to £100.000 for legal costs in pursuing claims for personal injury, contract, property and employment disputes.

Haven't you seen the adverts? There are plenty of companies out there offering an insurance comparison service.

It may not necessarily affect the premium in the direction you hope.

It's impossible to say for sure without knowing more details (eg postcode, postcode), but at first glance £219 looks a bit high - it's more than I pay for buildings and contents. And as a general rule if she has been with the same provider for many years then there's a good chance that another insurer will offer better value by now.

Best advice is to put her details into a comparison site or two and see what prices come up. Also try the main insurers (Direct Line and Aviva are the obvious ones) who aren't on comparison sites.

Insurers will usually ask whether the house is usually occupied during the day, at night, or both, and I imagine that if you can say "both" that will normally result in a lower premium. However you shouldn't expect an additional reduction on going from "usually occupied" to "almost always occupied" because their systems are based on asking fairly simple questions - they don't try to distinguish between "usually" and "almost always", and where precisely would you draw the distinction anyway?

To be honest the fact that the home is rarely left makes little odds.

Have you tried to run a quote through a few comparison sites yet??

I find this a duanting thing as I am fairly new. When you go to comparison sites they ask for stuff your not familiar with. This is why I prefer at present to speak with humans.

Either offer help or stop wasting my time. of OF COURSE I have heard of them  but am struggling...? Ever had to care for someone with dementia? And I am trying to get FRIENDLY help! Not put downs. Surely people here can offer practical help? Jeeeez

Well yours is the last un-helpful responses. I am VERy disappointed with this experience asking this. If I know stuff I will go out of my way to help people
WHY should always being in the house be seen as same as house is left for long periods of time?

WHAT is the purpose of these forums? To patronize people and tell them to go to comparison sites? :(

your comparing apples and oranges. Most comparison websites don't include home emergency unless you specify and therefore it would be cheaper, legal protection maybe optional and if you read the T+C would only be beneficial if your chance to win a case is over 50%.

What are you trying to acheive here? lower premiums? We as a forum are not the underwriters for the insurers, if what you put in the comparison and indeed those who are not on the comparison websites that is the price you are getting, no amount of raging will affect this.

If your after lower premiums, maybe do away with the optional extras for example, but cheapest is not always the best
