Eighth Anniversary First Post Name Dropper
edited 5 January 2017 at 6:49PM in Compers chat corner
I have recently started googling my name to check for wins after someone mentioned it on here.

I have discovered my name (first and surname) is the same as the daughter of a celebrity which means it takes ages to find me even when 'winner' or prize' are included in the search as her mother has won awards.

Has anyone else got a similar problem?

I have found a few mentions that are actually me - some wins I knew about and one I didn't!

A way to filter the famous name from searches, is to google your name, eg

    David Beckham -David

This should filter out the celebs.

I find that my name is quite common with quite a lot of people! Have considered comping by my maiden name but if ID is required for a win I could shoot myself in the foot doing that. :(
  • When I was listed as a winner it had my county next to it, so another option is to google your name + winner + your county , and also try your town/city as some may include this.
  • Yes! My name is the same as an athlete who wins tons of events so it makes it awkward for me to search :)

May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx

My problem doing this is that i have same name as someone who cheated on well know tv programme but also some one who was killed as a result of domestic violence. so my results on google search are quite sad!!

If you're going to be a snarky git at least get it right... it's "first world"....

  • Thank you for the suggestions I will try them.
