Sign off jobcentre and give new address of a owned house

A friend of mine who was homeless and claimed jobseekers on a address he used just for correspondence he now moved into a cousins bought house and called jobcentre and signed off and gave the address he moved into, he was asked to give the name of the owner of the house, why did they ask that? Will they be contacting the owner??
