Current state of comping?

Hi there, I used to be quite a big comper, earning probably close to 2-2.5k worth of prizes a few years back but circumstances changed and I also got bored of it all.
I'm just wondering what the current "comping climate" is like and if it's just as good time to get involved again as ever (prizes still flowing for you beautiful people?).
Cheers and best of luck to you all.

My prizes ain't even "dripping" never mind "flowing"
Far too many folks who think it is easy to win. :rotfl:
And even more who will shame themselves/family/friends to win a bar of chocolate“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

I enter the mags dailies once and usually just one or two of the magazines when it's the same prize. I try and enter all the competitions posted but every few days so probably miss quite a few, I don't bother with Facebook or Gleam/Raff, I've won four times this year in total.0

The prizes are still there, but partly due to MSEs heavy promotion of the comps section as a way to make extra income, and the never-ending parade of "I earn £40,000 a year from comping!! And most definitely from winning cup-a-soups and the occasional DVD, not from my ad-laden blog which is linked below..." stories in the press it has become very popular.
And many people are not at all discriminatory about prizes, meaning that there's no incentive for a company to offer a decent prize to acquire follows and likes when they can offer a 40p packet of chocolate buttons and sit back and giggle at the literal begging that goes on. "Shared with all my friends twice again this morning, please pick me!" and "We just found out my husband has a severe chocolate deficiency and might literally die if I don't win these buttons..."
I've gone from winning a few prizes a week to one a month if I'm lucky. I just had a four month dry spell. That said it was broken by a £2000 giftcard for Halfords, so aside from a bit of stiffness in my mouse hand things aren't looking too gloomy from my perspective at the moment! Best of luck!0 -

Heh, yeah. I'm the sort to get annoyed by the social media brigade of spammers and such do-gooding to hope for better chances of winning, so I do get a nice chuckle or two in when I happen to scroll across a competition and there they all are :P0 -
This has been my worst year ever, only a handful of small prizes so far.April wins - airwick linen set0

I've hardly won anything, but then I haven't been comping nearly as much as I used to. This year I've won a cake mix, tickets to the i360 and a watch. I've been comping just over 4 years, and this year has been the worst since I started.
I'm selective so that has reduced my opportunities to enter of course.
But I do keep a record of my wins, and here's what has happened in my case.
First full year, 2013, only month with no wins September.
2014- no wins February or December.
2015- no wins April to September.
2016- no wins March to September.
I've been entering similar amounts of competitions throughout the no wins period.
I love the prizes I have won, but I estimate I'm only winning 10% of what I did in 2013/14.0 -

Ditto to this. You must have started comping around the same time I did - I started September 2012 - in my first year I had a steady stream of wins, around 5+ a month, some small like DVDs and some big like iPads and hampers.
In my second and third years I had fewer wins but still a decent trickle of around 1-3 per month.
Last year I barely won anything all year except for a fantastic run at the end of the year which included £2,000; then a £200 voucher; then a full set of tyres; then a few small wins.
Since then however I have had very little. Think I've had about half a dozen wins this year, the biggest of which was £100 worth of makeup. This month I've won 50p on Quidco and 30p on TCB!!!0 -
I have never had such a bad year.
I am not a prolific comper or winner but this year could not get worse.
In my sig is no wins 2016, not quite true as I got 2 count em, fridge magnets. That's it and it's nearly December.
Been comping for about 20 years, never had it so bad63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
Those not winning... How are you entering? How often? You say you're not winning, but how often are you entering?0
