I am back, with a vengeance. I have had a difficult time of the past year and once again the eye is off the ball... you could say I have been in the woods chewing bamboo instead of watching the bank account.
Instead of wallowing in the depths of despair, I am going to get it sorted once and for all, and will need some help and assistance.
I have a complex set of issues to address, am on a DMP with debts of around 50000. I earn a decent salary but it just disappears.
I've stopped smoking. I've stopped drinking as much. I rarely go out.
My aims are simple but will take lots of work and resolve and I will need some help.
1. Declutter and get rid of stuff I dont want or need.
2. Get an emergency fund.
3. Get sorted for Christmas
4. Get a promotion.
5. Get necessary work done on the house.
My first challenge is called "Money for nothing" and its what I make from Ebay, Matched betting and the like (matched betting only for first week of the month while i have the funds to cover from the bills money)
Any advice and assistance is most welcome. Any money making suggestions will be gratefully received
My debt start figure is £49, 790.

Sold another piece of tat or precious item on eBay! Listed another 17. I don't know what's more tiring finding these things or typing up flowery descriptions of gcse German revision guides. I'm struggling for adjectives for shoes which hurt me because I wore them once and for which I harbour an irrational mistrust and hatred, which will make others fall in love and want to part with a tenner for them. They were forged by evil in the belly of the earth, but will set off your autumn outfit delightfully...Money for Nothing! £343.09

Hehe- I admit I am struggling to wax lyrical at times but some listings are almost Tolkeinesque both from a descriptive and a fantasy perspective, yet I have remained honest. The effect of cleaning out cupboards is cathartic, I feel so much better knowing whats under my stairs. The eBay hamper is full to bursting and more shall be listed today - from Duvet sets to sequinned shoes, paper watches and DVDs. No new sales but bids received to the tune of £30 - that doesn't end til Sunday. The amount of work I have done so far is not reaping much reward apart from the journey itself of course.
The promotion aim has ground to a halt. Basically my business is in trouble and no one is being promoted til January. Its impossible for me to realise that aim before Christmas
I will just need to get on with the rest

Stoptober App tells me that so far I have saved £153 by not smoking.
This will form the start of the emergency fund.
How much should my emergency fund be? Should it be a months income? if so I wont manage that til after Christmas either - but might aim for 50% of it

Cheers Bob!
Thanks to lovers of tat UK wide, I have boosted my eBay sales to a princely £59.29 as a book a coat and a DVD sold and paid for at the weekend. There is still £30 yet to be paid for too. Ebay seems to be the backbone of my money for nothing scheme. I must investigate some other methods!
I won't be forgetting the eBay fees and will knock it off on payday when I will settle the fees.
Right now due to sh1tty money management, this money is getting our groceries in - so the money saved by not smoking will be ferreted away on payday.
50% of it will be used for my emergency fund and 50% will go for next years holiday fund.
Im off to see what the best survey site is - and read the boost your income thread!

Another £40.90 in! Keep losing my connection and this is the third attempt to post grr.
Possible another £160 to come as a fair bit interest in a rare item
Fingers crossed
