Want: Family Holiday in the snow at Christmas on a budget
Trary
We have the same 2 week gap everyone else does at Christmas and would like to find some proper snow for our boys. We can travel abroad but are on a budget.
Tried searching holiday sites but they seem caught up on ski holidays. Be nice if it was more than 1 night. Any ideas?

Demand is too high for cheap, what budget were you thinking of, how many nights, where are you in the U.K.?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

We are in Leicestershire so easy access to midlands, london airports. We have two weeks to play with so a night up to 14.0

Cheapest will be Eastern Europe.
Zakopane in Poland, or just search for cheap flights into Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania etc0 -
I agree with bigadaj. Eastern Europe is probably your safest bet, and if you don't want a ski holiday, try a city break but stay in a town or village on the outskirts.
I'm near Zurich and we only had 3 or 4 days with snow on the ground here. The heaviest of that was at the end of Feb /early March, and in mid December I could still sit out on the balcony in jeans and t-shirt.
There was snow up in the mountains bit it wasn't the best and many resorts lost a fortune last Winter.

Have you considered cheap flights to Bergen, Stavanger or Helsinki? If you're not big drinkers, you might be able survive a few days there. Or even Tallinn might be an option.0 -
Thanks for your ideas, I will certainly look at cheap flights to these places (we are not big drinkers). Just would love to feel wintery but without paying through the nose to see Santa in Lapland!0

look at booking your own flights and accommodation , Thomson charge more for a package . We have looked and Finland for December and even using Thomson for flight only and booking the same hotel as they use saves £100'sEx forum ambassador

I would find a hotel in Chamonix, and drive down. easily done with 1 overnight stop each way. lots of hotels and eating / drinking places to chose from.0

Cheap flights to Sibiu would give some good places in Transylvania to go at.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0
