    You could always ask your bank to reclaim the DD, if a mistake has been made your entitled to a full immediate refund under DD guarantee

    It wouldn't be a mistake, though, if the terms and conditions specify that they will always take the DD no matter what other payments you make, or if the OP paid too late to stop the DD being claimed

    Some card providers, eg MBNA, take the DD no matter what other payments you make to the card between the statement date and the date the 3-day DD process starts.

    ime DDs will be taken if you don't make the manual payment until around 3 days before the DD is taken. the only provider that takes a DD regardless of manual payments is Amex. which is fine, as long you you know.

    You surprise me planteria. We've each had many MBNA run cards, yet ALL mine have operated just as I said above and ALL yours have operated in exactly the opposite way?

    If you search this board you'll find literally dozens of examples, going back many years, of MBNA collecting DDs even when statements have been paid in full by manual payments.
