02 O2 750 Discount deal about to expire .... HELP!
Hi all,
I am clinging onto my 02 750 Discount tariff. It expires in 2 months. However as a 'Select' customer they called and asked if I would like a free handset upgrade. Nokia 6300 offered. O2 said fine and they said from today your contract will be re-newed for another year. I agreed and then they said because your deal is £17.50 pm 750mins x-network + 200 texts we can't do thar deal any more. They then offered 500 mins + this free weekend call deal. I of course want my original deal extended. I wondered are there any deals out there to compare to what I have. have 7 weeks to find one - I've gone right off 02. They've had my business for 10 years now and maybe its time to change!

Just because the deal is not available for new coustomers, you should still be able to remain on it. Ring up and ask to speak to the manager in Customer Services, but firstly go to 'cancellations' department and tell them you are not happy with the upgrade offered.
Make sure that whoever you speak to, you make a note of their name, team number and the date/time of the call - always good for your records.
I am on T-Mobile and currently pay £6 per month for a contract that has been non-existant for 4 years - it was originally £15 a month, but reduced through loyalty bonus which I had to fight for.
Basically, you should be able to keep your original contract and line rental and if you go through cancellations they should 'in theory' provide a better upgrade package in order to keep you with 02. Othwerise, it is worth lookin around for a better deal.0 -
If you do go for a new deal, I would not recommend going through the mobile network directly, the deals are just not very good at the moment. I recently joined 3, on 18 month contract (750 mins and 150 texts, 50 video mins and £5 free downloads) for £17.50 a month, but the deal has expired 31st August!!!! That was the best straight-forward, no stings attached deal out there!
Whoever you use, try doing the deal through quidco and also see if it is possible to be recommended by a friend. I received £35 through quidco (hopefully) and got £30 (as did friend) joining 3.
It is possible to get 12 month contracts with 12 months free line rental on the mobileoutlet.co.uk but I have heard a lot of bad things about them, and that they have tightened up their terms and conditions as of August 2007.
My brother has been using carphonewarehouse with a xcashback scheme, and although the cashback is not overly amazing, at least it is a reputable company. You can also try e2save (who are connected with carphonewarehouse.)
If you leave 02, you might get a better deal on an 18 month contract, but after the initial period I am sure you would be able to get the same deal on a 12 month through upgrade.
If you are stuck finding a deal, you can get a FREE virgin 6 month contract (with sim only,) and can claim the money back through a cashback scheme, during that time a better deal might come along!
It includes 150 mins and 150 text, so probably is not what you aree looking for, but it is just a thought.
If I see any deals on the web, I will let you know.0
