Hotpoint recall 13 days without a drier.

My drier is one of the many on the Hotpoint recall list and I eventually, after much haranguing with Hotpoint, got an appointment for an engineer on the 15 July. Now bear in mind Hotpoint know the model and serial number of my drier, the engineer turns up with the wrong part. He then continues to disconnect the mains leads saying that he can't allow us to continue to use it and we will have to wait until the part comes into stock where they will book another appointment. So a few questions spring to mind, why did the engineer have to disconnect the mains as it is unsafe if Hotpoint have been reassuring people that they are OK to use as long as you follow their advise? Are they really this unsafe? Can I claim costs back from Hotpoint as now my wife is having to take laundry to my in laws house to dry it? Has anyone else had this issue with Hotpoint yet?

Can you not just use a washing line/airer rather than making your wife go to your in-laws?0

Thats not always feasible and not the point.0

I had the same, had to wait a month so just used 2 airers without any effect on llife.0

There are some idiot responses here. I would not be pleased if the repair man had brought the wrong part and then disabled the drier for what is already two weeks. Don't care what the season is or which part of the world we live in. They should not do this so I would complain vigorously and repeatedyl until they fixed it or offered me some recompense or perhaps both0

It IS the point. You are asking if you can claim costs back, but if you have a washing line or outdoor space, then there is nothing to claim.
If you live in a very small flat with nowhere to hang washing then that is a totally different kettle of fish.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
