Recommendations for new ISP

Hi,

I'm looking to move from Plusnet, and have been looking at either Virgin or Demon, but i am looking for someone who have UK call centres. Can anyone recommend anyone who has an unlimited download limit and a UK call centre for under £20 a month?

Cheers

Hi Jon, after 10 days with Virgin,, Im going back to Tesco.. I cant fault them , or the UK customer service, and they have an unlimited , 1 meg connection , for 19.99...

Not the fastest I know, but the customer service is brilliant :D

DONT USE VIRGIN// their customer service is Pathetic, and they mess up with the bills ( chargerd me £65.00 and id only beem with them .5 hours) !!!!!!!
  • unlimited (true rather than advertised) - is rarer than hen's teeth.

Best ISP going is ADSL24 - joined them recently after aceinternet (don't even think about it) and plusnet too.

Since my post, i have read some pretty terrible reviews of Virgin.

I'm looking for an unlimited (well at least 40-50GB) limit with someone who doesn't restrict your speed until you reach your limit. I can pay up to £20 a month.

Doesn't leave me with much, but the one in pole position at the moment seems to be Demon who are offering unlimited downloads (FUP kicks in at 50GB), on an 8MB connection for £17.99. The thing that puts me off is the Indian call centres.
Anyone got any comments on Demon?

  • I had a look at ADSL24, the package seems ok and the UK based customer support is a big plus.

The only thing stopping me is the 30GB peak limit. I don't know if i could stick to it. They say if you go over the limit they will charge a fiver+VAT plus the difference in price between this and the next package which is a tenner which means i could end up paying an extra £15.87 a month.

If and I stress IF your usage is torrents or similar you could get your software (U torrent certainly allows this) to just download at off peak times in which case 300gb is plenty.

Other thing is uplaods count too so that's worth bearing in mind if stillc onsidering them.

Have you had a mooch round their forums ? I lurked and then posted for a few weeks before I managet o escape ace.

My problem is that all my downloads are done between the hours of 5pm and 10pm. 10pm is when their off peak hours kick in. I'm a bit funny about leaving my PC on overnight.

Lol, I appreciate the advice, don't get me wrong. I've just gotta decide if i will stick to the 30GB limit, i guess i could save all my downloading until the weekends.

Some people have mentioned Sky, but i've heard nothing but bad things about Sky. Anyone got any comments on them?
  • LOL Just kidding dude

hope you find an isp you will be happy with
