Amazon ringfencing money

During 2016, I've noticed at various points, small amounts of money being ringfenced in my account. The payments never cleared or appeared on the statement, they eventually timed out, and so I never challenged it. Recently I contacted my bank regarding an amount of £2, that was identified as being two £1 transactions from Amazon. Over the past week or so, I've had £6 ringfenced in my current account, I contacted my bank this morning, and they identified the £6 as being six £1 transactions from Amazon.

Is there anything I can do to get Amazon to release the funds?, I understand that they do reserve £1 in order to make sure the card is active, working etc. But to me £6 is excessive, surely if the £1 from a previous order is still being held then that should be sufficient?

Thanks!

Have you made six orders from Amazon? If so, then what's the issue? £6?

A verification £1 gets returned, so op has a valid point as to why 6 such amounts are being held. Nothing to do with orders, unless maybe op has 6 different cards.
Amazon are quite easy to phone, there's a callback queuing system. I'd call them.

If there are 6 separate orders then 6 amounts would get taken. Loads of stuff can happen between orders, they can't just use one £1 hold against other orders.

Not recently no, if I counted the last six orders I made, that would take me to early June. Edit - The 11th June to be exact.
  • I finally got the dates identified by my bank, and over a period of four days, Amazon ringfenced a £1 each day, not sure why as I didn't buy anything during those dates.

So £4 is at issue? Are you saying the money is never released back to you?

Have you signed up to any trials of their services like prime?

I think they say something about checking the cards validity with a £1 charge.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
