Dealer not informing me vehicle had been in a crash
I bought a car in Aug 2014 from a second hand dealer. The dealer told me the car had passed its hpi check.
I later noticed the car had undergone repairs. I checked the hpi myself and nothing came up which indicated the car was repaired without going through insurance
I've just come to renew my insurance and the insurer queried an outstanding claim that is showing up on the national claims data base. The date that this accident was reported as occuring was
was 10 months before I bought the car and reported a month before I bought it.
Should the second hand dealer have known about this claim
Do I have any comeback
Thanks

When did you do your hpi?0 -
The hpi came back clean, both when the dealer checked, and when you checked. He may have known, he may not.
Did you ask the dealer if the vehicle had ever needed any repairs?0 -

Did the hpi about 2 months after I bought it0 -

When I pointed out to the dealer that the car had had repairs - they denied all knowledge0 -
How is the national claims database different from hpi check0

your supposed to do an Hpi check before you buy the car, preferably just before you part with the cash after you are happy with everything else such as service history, drive etc....“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Well if was just a damage claim and not a write-off then it wont appear on an HPI check. Cars have accident damage all the time not all are repaired via insurance or insurer notified so I don't thing you've got much of a case against the dealer that sold the car unless you can prove they knew of the damage repairs before it was sold to you.0

What comeback do you want ? You have a 6yo Octavia that's been repaired to a good enough standard that you didn't know when you bought it
Is it coming up as Cat D or just that there has been a claim at some point ?
To manage expectations you're not going to get your money back :rotfl:0 -
You HPI'd it and it came back clear. How was the dealer to know it was accident damaged? His check was older than yours.
If it was reported a month before you reported it, why was your report clear? Take it up with the compay you did the HPI with.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
