Hi
I am looking to take my 12 year old son to Spain in August for a week, just me and him. i would like to suprise him with a trip to Barcelona to go on the football stadium tour but don't want to stay in the city for the whole week.
So I was wondering what places that are a bit more beachy. Someone mentioned Salou, but I wanted to see what other reccomendations there are. Obviously within reasonable travelling distance to Barcelona, via train.
Looking to go on it around 18th August.
Thanks.

Don't know when you are going but Barcelona play Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup mid-August and La Liga starts on the 20th Aug but the fixtures haven't been released yet.
I took my children to a Barca match and they really enjoyed it. It's safe and family friendly.
The football stadium tour is really good. He'll enjoy that. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Salou area, plenty to keep a 12 year old occupied like Aquapolis water park and Porta Aventura theme park, plenty of buses to Barcelona. Just a note, I personally would avoid Las Ramblas in high season as will be heaving.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Sitges is about half an hour by regular train service.0

post 4 beat me to it.
There is a coastal train that will take you into Barcelona.0 -
I took my 8 year old grandson for the exact same reasons, he wanted to go to Camp Nou but I did not want to stay in the centre of Barcelona. We stayed in Castelldefels which is along the coast and an easy direct bus/train ride into Barcelona. There is a lovely sandy beach and a really nice town centre and it is no where near as busy as Barcelona and it was much more relaxing.0
