We need a new mattress for a single guest bed.
I don't want to spend a fortune - but it needs to be comfortable and firm
The bed is a wooden slatted one - so I would guess that the mattress must be a non-reversible, solidly built one ?
What should I buy ?
Amazon ?
I understand that many cheap mattresses fall apart and fail fire regs ?

You can have a turnable one on a slatted based.
I suppose it depends how much you want to spend and how often it will be used.
Mattresseman have a good variety, you can always go to a shop to try them out and order online.
If you go for memory foam with springs they can't be turned.
