another foreign dental question

my OH needs serious work doing to his mouth (think shaun out of the pogues)not THAT bad really but nearly he needs them all ripping out and falsies put in but he cannot afford this in this country his dentist has said that he will do this for a modest fee of £7k

what he is looking for is a european dentist as he has heard good things about dentistry abroad, where do i start looking? anyone got any recommendations?

Just because one dentist quotes £7k, doesn't mean they all will.

If you look at a menu outside one resturant, and steak is £50, do you immediatley think you cannot afford to eat in this country?

If you are looking for a car and the first showroom you come to is a Porsche dealership, do you think that you will never have a car?

It's just the same with dentistry.

There are options for treatment and options for price.

Shop around.

Get recommendations, visit practices (To see the set up - not to see the dentist ) when you find somewhere with good care and reasonable prices you are prepared to pay, book in for a check up.

Going abroad will never be good from the continuing care point of view.

Without continuing care, any money your OH spends on his mouth, either at home or abroad will be money down the drain, as things will fall to bits just like his own teeth have.

He will need a period of time in which his mouth can be stabalised, and during which he can be educated into why things have gone wrong, and how he can turn things around.

When things are stable, more advanced work can begin to rebuild things and make them look good.

This is completey impossible in a week or twos holiday.

It is also impossible for all these people who get their teeth done in programs like '10 Years Younger' which are done in this country.

There seems little or no education here either - and I bet the dentist doing it doesn't follow the work up for the rest of the patient's life, so again, all that fantastic work is doomed to failure.

So - my advice to your OH would be to find a dentist in this country interested in working with your OH over the long term to put things right.

A one - hit fix in any country will turn out to be an expensive waste of money.
