Memory full on my Samsung Galaxy S5
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 16gb mobile phone. Model number SM-G900F. It is running Android version 5.0
I am limited to the number of apps I can install as I often get warnings that my device is nearly full and then is full! I then need to delete as much as I can to get it to operate properly.
I have a 64GB SD card on board and transfer what data and apps I can to this card.
This is an ongoing problem I am looking for any ideas to help me.
There are a number of Samsung apps that take up space that I can not delete. These automatically update and although I can delete the updates freeing up some space, within 24 hours they have all downloaded the updates again. Is there anything I can do to stop these automatic updates.
These “fixed” apps are - Chat on, Galaxy Apps, Google Apps, Google Play services, Polaris Office Viewer 5, SHealth, Samsung Link Platform, Samsung Push Services, YouTube.
I “think” I don't use any of them except YouTube occasionally.
An snapshot today of my memory situation
System Memory - 4.18GB
Used Space - 4.61GB
Cached Data - 86.82MB
Miscellaneous Files - 6.41GB (of which my podcacher “BeyondPod” 5.69GB)
AVAILABLE SPACE - 731MB
There is 53.74GB of space on the SD card
I would be grateful for any tips or tricks to help with this.

This option to change the folder is greyed out on my phone, but it might be because I don't have a second sd card in my phone.0 -
Turn off auto updates in Play store and turn off/ disable the apps you don't use in settings application manager .
As above move your data to ext SD card .0 -

These few MB won't help the OP at all. We're talking about GB here...0 -
That's odd, I'm sure I posted a link yesterday to an app that analyses memory card usage on Android phones.
I'll not post it again, but if you want to check out your disk usage I'm sure a bloke called Ivan will be able to assist.0 -

That happens if someone posts a question twice... :mad:0 -
Thank you everybody you have been most helpful.
So following all the advise I did the following.
After turning off auto update in play store then deleted updates saved 387mb
They also disappeared from app manage list.
Moved Beyond Pod to SD card from app manager but made no difference. When I moved it from within BeyondPod (Settings > General settings > Podcast Download Folder) it worked.
Deleted Cashed data.
A snapshot today, 18th May 2016 of my memory situation
System Memory - 4.18GB
Used Space - 4.06GB
Cached Data - 20.79MB
Miscellaneous Files - 2.13MB (of which my podcacher “BeyondPod”1.43MB)
AVAILABLE SPACE - 5.60GB
I might now turn on auto updates in a few days.
Thank again. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
See if you can disable any apps you don't want. Disbaled apps will never try to update and you won't see them. You can re enable them in the future if you wish to.0
