1st European tour, how long to go thru immigration as booking trains

hello everyone
i have a daft question. this is my first time going abroad, specifically Greece. I am trying to book a return train coming from Gatwick Airport to Somerset but the train price is expensive. I arrive at Gatwick Airport at 1345.
The first cheap train depart Gatwick at 3pm and the next one is at 5pm.
So the question is, how long does it take to go thru immigration and get your luggage. I know this is a case to case basis but is 1 hour and 15 minutes enough to go thru immigration and get my luggage ? will i be able to be at the 3pm train, in case i book this one?
Thanks for any information.

As even a slight delay in the flight arriving or a long wait for luggage could make the earlier time too tight-(and neither are unusual happenings) personally I'd book the later one.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I agree it is far too much of a risk if you are buying an Advance ticket that is only available on one train. If you are travelling on a Tuesday in May you would have a much better chance than a Saturday in August but I wouldn't risk it if the cost of a new single ticket, via Reading I assume, will be so much higher than the cost of your Advance ticket0

Gatwick can be very unpredictable. I've been through border control and luggage collection in under 30 mins before but it has also taken almost 2 hours. I wouldn't risk the earlier train but you should be fine on the later one.0
