House Buying Help (Scotland)

Hi,
First time buyer here and I'm a bit confused about the process.
I have a decision in principle from a bank for a mortgage and I've found a property I would like to buy.
I believe the next step is to find a solicitor who will put an offer in for me? Do solicitors charge to put in an offer? Or do they only charge when an offer has been accepted and sort everything else out?

In Scotland you can put the offer in yourself on the phone to the agent and when you come to an agreement on price then get a solicitor to put the offer in writing and then thats the start of it all.
Thats what we have done buying houses.
Some folk get a solicitor to put their offer in writing straight away.
Get a few quotes for buying/selling or both and choose a solicitor, perhaps a local one or one that is recommended by someone you know.0 -

That varies. Some make a selling point of not charging for unsuccessful offers in their advertising etc, some don't seem to make a feature of it.
You need to ask each one you're considering to outline their fee structure for you. Give you a quote, etc.0
