Need you help please guys.
I would like to instal W7 over XP. I have run a W7 compatibilty test and its telling me that my chipset - Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family driver is not compatible with W7 but I cannot find an upgrade anywhere online.
What does this actually mean? Will I need a new graphics card or just simply a new PC!
Really rubbish at all this sort of stuff so any advice and help in plain English is appreciated.
If you need my current PC specs:
Dell Dimension 5000
Microsoft Xp Pro SP3
Pentium 4 CPu / 3.4Ghz/2gb RAM
Thanks for the help

I had a Dell Dimension 5000 running on XP.
Sounds like yours was using the integrated Intel graphics in the motherboard while mine had a AMD graphics card in it
The motherboard will be Dell propriety own make as I recall
I also think the integrated network connection from Broadcom which connects you to the internet via the RJ45 socket at the back was a insurmountable problem as Broadcom never put out any drivers for Win7 for that one. (OK if you were desperate you put in a separate network card)
I think I've seen on the web statements that the 5000 was never a candidate for upgrading to Win 7 and I never tried it. The 5000 also now something like 11 years old - was made in 2005 I think.0 -
that machine dates back to 2005 , and was £900 new!Save a Rachael
