You will be able to tell by the letters next to it on your bank statement - what letter does it show?
But as DS says - you are subject to a tax charge on child benefit if one of you earns over 50k.

After much googling, it would appear that we are getting child benefit, not child tax credit. We are going to call them today to confirm.
My bank statement just says £82.20 (not £81, my mistake) with a reference and CHB at the end.0 -

CHB is definitely child benefit, should be £82.80 not £82.20 though. All above board and you're entitled to it, so long as you have 1 child living with you and neither of you earn over £50k a year

Awesome. Though I do feel like a complete plank! We were looking at this last night at 2am in a mad panic and not thinking like rational professional people!
