I will try and cut a long story short...
About 18 months ago I had an interview with a company where I felt the interview went really well and I really wanted the job. Unfortunately, they got in touch with me after to say that they were very impressed, however, someone with more experience than me had just pipped me to the post. Gutted.
Fast forward to recently where a new colleague at my current job happened to have worked there previously and was still in touch with various people within the company. She just happened to be meeting up with the lady who had interviewed me and following their meeting pulled me aside to say she had asked if I could send them my up-to-date CV as I'm the type of person they're looking for and they really liked me at interview.
This I did and offered to be available for an informal chat...had a bit of back and forward with the lady resulting in her saying could I give them a few weeks to work stuff out and they'll get back in touch.
It has now been longer than that and I'm not sure whether to send another email or just leave it and if they want to get in touch with me they will. I would like to appear pro-active but don't want to put them off by harassong them.
All of my contact has been done via email so I was even thinking of popping my CV in the post to them with a friendly covering letter?
Any advice?

Yes send it.
Cover letter to say "I have just updated my CV and in the light of our recent discussions I thought you would be interested in seeing a copy of it".
