  • Thanks, but I've tried it and they only wanna pay me £4 for a book I paid £85 for! I will try selling on Facebook instead.

Well done! That's fantastic news! Was it what you wanted?

Thank you! Well, not really. It's waitressing and they are paying me more than minimum wage, plus service charge on top, but it is obviously not my dream job! But I've gotta pay those bills :rotfl:

Ah well, as you say it pays the bills and it's always easier to get another job once you're in one! And if you get to keep tips that's always a bonus :D
  • My credit score is up slightly on ClearScore so that's good! I'm not too sure how reliable that site is though, because it is still saying I'm not on the electoral role but I definitely am!

  • I'm back! I hadn't been able to log in for a long time as my laptop had broken. It has been replaced (thanks to home insurance it only cost £50!) so now I'm able to log in again, finally!

Updates since May... well, I quit the waitressing job that I posted about. It was an awful place to work - they lied to me about their service charge and tips policies. They keep service charge for themselves and lie to customers about it. The owner was horrible to work for and I was very stressed there. I had 2 cold sores in 6 weeks from the stress of it! All for minimum wage, what a joke...

Then I went back to my old job in a pub. It was part time at first so I could job-hunt during the week, but they ended up roping me in to do full time hours. After just 6 weeks... I quit. Again, it was horrible! Management was afwul, and customers were always complaining about slow food service or quality, so they never paid service charge which meant minimum wage for me again.

So, it's been a bad few months. Luckily I've managed to save £500 to put towards my CC debt, and I've paid my debt to my friend. So roughly £1000 to go on the CC by next April.

And now to find a proper job. Why did I choose such a competitive career path?!

  • Hello!

Sorry to hear you've had such a rough time with the jobs - hopefully something better will come along!
I'm subscribing and wishing you luck as your position sounds very similar to my own - I'm a recent uni grad who blew the budget on 3 months abroad and am now paying for it (literally!).

    Good Luck :)
