(Cheap) Internet Only Estate Agents - worth it?

Hi as a buyer I looked at a gorgeous house with an online agent. The current owners showed me around and I couldn't ask the questions I normally did as it all felt a little awkward- that house has been on the market over 6 months. Now - this was a quirky little cottage and the couple have lived there over 30 years so perhaps an exception but it did put me off the house. They also over priced it hugely and the online agents tried to tell them to reduce etc but didn't work.
As a buyer I prefer someone neutral to show me around but then the area I am buying in and the tyep of properties aren't 'simple' but that is just my experience.
The online agent service as a buyer was far worse than the normal agents too - who are getting us to offer £15k over what we originally did so clearly doing and earning their money.

Ours is an "inbetweeny" really - (they are called Warrens) they are local, a lot cheaper than the franchises and are "in person". We've used them twice and my son has also. They don't have a shop but do all the online stuff including using a really good experienced, professional photographer who will tell you to remove clutter etc and take the best shots. I'm sure there will be similar agents in most areas (just look for the signs with local contact numbers or ask around). I wouldn't use anyone else now. Being local means they know the area very well, the local conveyancing solicitors and get a good rapport going with prospective buyers.0
