Applying for a mortgage and going through divorce

Hi All,
I am hoping someone can help me. I am currently going through a divorce and have requested ownership of the marital home in England . My husband owns 4 properties in France.
I am actively seeking employment but have not worked for a few years so finding it extremely difficult to get interviews, let alone jobs. The next court appearance asks for both parties to provide 4 examples of suitable property to live in.
My concern is that not having an income, I doubt I will be able to obtain a mortgage.
Does anyone know of a standard list of requirements to obtain a mortgage that is publicly available that I can access to present this. I don't want to apply for a mortgage and get rejected as it will affect my credit score.
Many thanks

No income either self employed or through employers means no mortgage.
You have to see it from the lenders point of view, how are you going to pay the mortgage off with 0 income? They do not taking housing benefit into account if claiming.

There is no list, all lenders have their own set of criteria for you to meet.
However, as a general rule of thumb you will have to pass the affordability assessments (which varies from lender to lender) and also pass the credit check.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Following on from ACG, have a play with the affordability calculators on house you want to buy and aim for that in terms of your income.

If you'll be receiving spousal maintenance/child support that can count as income for a mortgage, but normally has to be supported by at least a letter from the ex paying the money.
On what grounds are you asking to stay in the marital home? Is that the split of assets? Will you otherwise have a cash settlement? Not sure why you're looking for a mortgage - how will you pay it?
It's a horrible time (been there, have 2 t-shirts), good that you're asking questions in advance :-)Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -
Hi,
Income can be anything as long as it's sound income that can be validated and appears to be stable and ongoing at the time of applying.
Can't the husband just sign it over into your name if it's in joint names and then carry on doing whatever you was with it - e.g. paying the current mortgage, if any. If non, then would he be willing to just sign it over to you?
Hope you sort it out - not a great time for you - good luck with your future x0 -
Thanks for the reply.
I don't want to sell the house - I would prefer to stay in the marital home and have my husband sign over his share to me but as part of the Financial Disclosure process, in the event that the marital home is sold, I have to state what type of accomomdation I need and that would entail buying a property from the proceeds. It's crazy and so unnecessary. I think it is right that no mortgage lender should be giving me a loan given I have no income. My husband is not willing to sign over the marital home.0
