Friday 11th March - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

    Set up sale tonight for tomorrow - hopefully will sell loads
    Meals from stores - LO meatball bake for lunch, beef stew in slow cooker for tea
    Piece of stollen out of freezer for afternoon snack :)

    Think that's about all, have a good Friday
  • Hi ziggy thanks for starting us off :A How was your brother's funeral? How are you and your ma doing? (sorry am completely out of the loop as have been stupidly busy and trying to not spend so much time online - which is going well :))

    La E did you get up the bullet journal? I did this week and already it is proving to be an excellent addition to my life!

    So working at the crisis cafe tonight - jeez this week has been ridic! Starting the new job has been good, there's a lot to do and we have definitely got our work cut out licking the service into shape. But working part time and sharing the responsibility with someone I respect, like and have a similar value base is invaluable :T But due to how things have been I now am working out my notice at the pub and I am contracted to work at the cafe until 6th May. Am unsure whether I will extend my contract or not. So I have a bit of time to see how I feel about working the 2 jobs and whether they fit together.... It's hard to give up the money!

    Small things I'll do today:

    * post parcel
    * return library books
    * pay in money at PO
    * washing already in the machine and will hang out when it finishes
    * all meals from stores
    * get some fresh bread for packed lunch tomorrow - going to Leeds Castle as part of The Big Weekend with the Kinship carers network :D
    * make said packed lunch & get bits ready so in the morning it's just a case of getting up, fed and in the car!
    * steel myself for meeting up with the useless manager at the cafe this evening....
    * repot seedlings and plant some more seeds - oh how happy this makes me!
    * have saved some empty bottles to use as cloches ;)
    * try on a dress that I bought years ago but didn't fit and now I have lost some weight it just might :D
    * clean bathroom
    * divvy up ys chicken chicken pieces I got yesterday and freeze

    Ok that's all I need to get done. Have a great day everyone x

    Make-the-change I always just google recipes, if I like it I keep it in a bookmark. I'm trying this next week:

    http://therecipecritic.com/2012/07/slow-cooker-cashew-chicken/

    I'm just going to use some basics cashews and wash off the salt ;)

    With being out of the house for 10 hours a day on the days I'm at my new job I need things that reduce my workload on these days so have planned a number of sc meals. I'll chop up enough onions & veg on Sunday for the 3 days and store in tupperware in the fridge so I can bung it all in in the morning before I dash out ;)

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for the start Ziggy - hope you feel better today :)

    Well, it was nice outside for a change when I got up, but a nasty thick fog has now come down - and there was me hoping for a decent gardening day! Hopefully it will improve later,

    List for today:
    Fold up washing from airer and put in airing cupboard to finish off :)
    Check banks properly as I noticed that interest had been added to my ISA the other day :)
    Dog walks x 2
    Do the cleaning I didn't do yesterday :o
    Investigate whether, after all my decluttering efforts, I now have the cupboard or drawer space to house the camping cooking stuff, instead of it living in a box under the bed. It isn't as though I don't have lots of cupboards :o
    Need a couple of bits to make a curry for later - I have leftover Thai green curry sauce from a chicken curry I made the other day, so I thought that, with some Lidls prawns, and peppers from the freezer, it would do another meal :)
    Start a shopping list for the weekend, wouldn't normally be a big one this week, but it is the last week of my cheap 'membership' unlimited delivery from Ocado. We weren't using this enough really, but it was cheap even for just a monthly shop. Sadly they have now put up the price so I have cancelled it - so I will stock up a bit to make best final use of it.
    Make some soup, sweet potato and lentil sounds good :)

    OK, I had better get on with some of it! Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Morning Campers,
    Can't seem to get myself going this morning, so I'll post my list up, then I shall set to. Today I will:
    *Clean whole house using minimal products & washable cloths.
    *Change bed linen & load washer for cheap overnight wash.
    *Make bread rolls.
    *Finish next week's meal plans.
    *Write shopping list.
    *Update grocery budget - have placed an order with Grimsby fresh fish man & need to have the cash ready for delivery.
    *Find vouchers for tomorrow's Sainsbury's & city centre trip. Also put money from Leisure/Entertainment Piggy in my bag to pay for a modest meal out tomorrow.
    *Finish my knitted cats. One ready to stuff, maybe enough wadding left for two more.
    *Do some surveys.
    *Do at least 1 job from my Annoying Things list.
    *Check fridge & fruit & veg baskets to see if anything needs using. May need to blanch & freeze carrots as we seem to have quite a lot of them.
    *Check online banking to see if my energy company payment has arrived yet.
    *Water veggie seedlings.
    *Remind mr f to find out when he gets paid. It'll almost certainly be a few days early because of Easter so I'll need to get my Big Budget Day planned.
    Ok, that is plenty to be getting on with for now. Off upstairs to hoover.

    DNMS - I use plastic bottles for bottle cloches too. They work really well. My baby aubergines & jalapeno chillies have been potted up into recycled Mullerlight (& the Aldi version!) yoghurt pots & I've found that the cloches I make from cut-down large mineral water bottles fit right down over these pots perfectly. Just waiting for a sunny day & I'll be down my greenhouse potting up the next lot of chillies x

    Morning all!

    Managed a NSD yesterday! I just seem to need to get/do something each day which requires spending!

    Circuits was good last night and a few of us have agreed to enter into Pretty Muddy which I really wanted to do but had no one to do it with! So emailed instructor details so that he can coordinate and hopefully get a few more to enter. Also he mentioned getting us t-shirts as this will be good advertising for him, so hopefully it will be free!

    Today I have/will:-
    * Do workout at home
    * Quick shower
    * Wipe down shower glass
    * Check banks
    * Collect washing from around the house!
    * Load of washing on 30 degree ecowash
    * Water plants using dogs water bowl rather than throwing down the sink
    * Take lunch to work
    * Check TCB
    * Check FPL
    * Charge phone in work
    * Earn more on OnePoll
    * Snaffle a few tea bags from work to last tonight until I do a small shop tomorrow
    * Empty purse into pig as new budget week
    * Make a list of bits to get in Mr A tomorrow so that I get my parking for free whilst in town
    * Freeze leftover curry

    Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a good day.

    Twiggy I'm just the same! I've accepted and made peace with it now. As long as I stay within budget that's ok for me x

    YorkshireLass - I love how people think you have to be poor to shop in Lidl/Aldi! I actually find some of the food better quality and I don't understand why you would pay more for stuff through snobbery!

    Ally - how funny. You live in what I perceive to be one of the most beautiful parts of the country and say you've only seen a kingfisher 3 times and yet here I am in Sarth bleedin Landan and see them all the time ;) we live near a river that is within a smallish park and it attracts them for some reason. You have only to sit along the bank and you will see them 70% of the time. Tiny creatures really and so hard to photograph as so fast.

    I'm green with envy, Bob! If you look at this (Link) you'll see on the map that we are just about too far north to have Kingfishers at all being on the West Coast of Scotland. The first one I saw was in Kent as a child! We do have lots of other nice birds to enjoy though so I shouldn't complain. I was only sad that my OH wasn't with me at that point yesterday with her Photogra-faff machine.
