Thursday 10th March - What small debt free wannabe things will you do today?

Hello Thursday Savers,
Spent this morming outside campaigning in the rain. Lovely :-/
Not a massive amount of money saving but here goes:
*Paid cash from Holiday Savings Piggy into bank account to cover 2 camping trips which we are booking this week.
*Bought a couple of greetings cards from cheap indie card shop. Can't believe I used to spend over £2 on each card, sometimes more.
*Called in B&M as had heard they sell cheap coffee bags. No coffee bags but bought big bottle of chilli sauce for same sort of price as we pay for a small one.
*Called in Co-op for fondant icing (their own brand always seems to do a good smooth job) & found some good ys items while there, inc 2 chickens reduced to £2.50 each.
*Making quesadillas & salad for dinner using the leftover tortilla wraps & chopped red peppers I froze last week. Intend to make refried beans with onions & chilli & solder evetything together with grated cheese. Love concocting a cheapie meal with all the little odds & sods I chuck in the freezer.
*Cheap coffee while I was out this morning. Big cup £1.50. From coffee stall on market. Lovely coffee & piping hot too. Must remember that for another time
*Start meal plans for next week.
*Finish my knitted cats. Knitted one last night but then fancied a bath so that was the end of cat-knitting.
Ok. Kettle going on now.
So grey, dull & drizzley. Looking forward to a nice sunny gardening day.

Hi to all and thanks for the start off Ally.

After I got super distracted yesterday, hoping to catch up on stuff.
Here goes;
1. Plonk gammon in slow cooker - done
2. Pick up milk & dog food on way home - done (which means not NSD today. Oh well, done quite well this week so far!)
3. Take photos of magazines and put on eBay
4. Must study this afternoon/evening as falling seriously behind
5. Make dinner; gammon + veggies
6. Check banks and update spreadsheet as needed
I'll be happy if I can manage all this!
Have a lovely day everyone - it's beautifully sunny here :j0 -

I use the Hairy Bikers curry recipes Make_the_change. The diet ones most recently, but their others are good, too
I have one or two of their books (often found in charity shops) but there are a few recipes at http://www.hairybikers.com/recipes/search?query=curry#Bu7uFda6Ht5X63dA.970 -

LaE and Lego Mum - I have some sliced onions in the fridge too that have a sell-by of today so they'll be used up frying them alongside the steaks, no blue cheese though unforunately

Just a quick thought, maybe we could have a thread on daily or weekly meal ideas and recipes. I know I for one, with fussy children and OH would definitely make full use of ideas and inspiration from others. Plus techniques and other things. Just an idea from a newbie! xDMP Started June 20160

Hi all! hope you're all having a great day.
Today I:
> Bought my breakfast (but only 87p)
> Brought in my lunch
> Am reusing a herbal tea bag! (Fennel tea)
> Have read the couponing article on here and will try and plan this week's top up shop a little better and check for relevant coupons.
> Downloaded checkoutSmart and Shopitize onto my phone.
> Remembered to get tonight's dinner out of the freezer (curry!)
Quick question... what's PAD?
Thanks

I will do this.0 -
I can second the hairy bikers currys (well nearly all of their 600 calorie recipes) we have one of their currys most weeks. The curry bible by M&S is also fantastic but out of print how I believe but a good find in the charity shop or library.0

1. Had to wait in for washing machine to be delivered so did a small handwash and hung it out to dry.
2. Dropped off library book to avoid a fine
3. Used the time stuck at home to sort out new tariff for gas and electric. Thought it would be a small change but turns out I'll save £53 per MONTH!! Plus they're sending a refund of £251 which will go to overpay on the car loan.Looking ahead0 -

Hi Make_the_change - there's one on the old-style board - they set up a new one every weekend for the week ahead. I used to post on it all the time. I don't so much now for some reason but I'm definitely more organised when I do! I'll hunt out the link for you.
