Working Tax Credits (For 34 Hours A Week Job and Infrequent Self Employment)

I work 34 hours a week (over 3 days) for the NHS (my new job). I am also registered self employed for the odd bit of Photography work (which recently has been extremely little/non-existent). For the last two tax years, I have submitted my self-assessment tax return online but I never had to pay tax since my total income (including from PAYE employment) was under the tax threshold.
I was told I am able to claim working tax credits but I also heard that being self-employment means I may not be able to claim. The only reason I registered as self-employed was because I do earn a little bit of money from Photography on the side but this is infrequent and sometimes I can go for many months without any work. I only advertise lightly, I don't see this as a career, just a hobby with some money on the side.
What does all this mean in regards to working tax credits? I am 29 years old, no children and single.

What was your 2014/15 income?
What is your estimated 2015/16 income?
Your income purely from employment should be now be over the tax threshold depending on your total income for the tax year.
34hrs x current NMW £6.70 = £227.80 per week / £11845 per annum0 -
Isn't the national minimum wage for over 25s £7.20? My income with the NHS is approx £8.20 per hour now.
My 2014/2015 income was under £10k. My estimated 2015/2016 income will be over £15k because that's what my NHS job offers me. I probably will get a few hundred from Photography too.0 -

Not yet. The current NMW is £6.70 as stated. It will increase in April for the over 25s.
You'd possibly be entitled for the last few weeks of this tax year if you got the form in on time but wouldn't be entitled from April.
Threshold is approx £13,000 for a single person with no no children or disabilities.0 -
So to clarify, because I am earning over approx £13k, I won't be entitled to working tax credits at all?0
