Going Back To work Help

Hello,
I have just found out I have got the job I reeeeally wanted!
.. I have been on JSA Since December and prior to this I was on Income Support (I switched over as my son turned 5)
I am going back 17 hours pw and I am single mother. I am have a shard ownership property so I have SMI and HB currently.
Does anyone know whether I will get any help etc? I have seen a lot with SMI run on and HB run but it says you have to be on certain benefits for 16 weeks or more. Will my change over affect this? How is it paid? Directly to the lender?
Also, do back to work grants exist etc? And How is JSA paid, until my sing on date?
Finding out what money I should get once my claim closes will really help me budget until my first pay day (eeek!)
Thankyou

You should be OK for the extended payment of HB and SMI as you need to have been receiving the eligible benefit (or a combination of these) for 26 weeks before starting work. It will be paid the same way as you are receiving it now.

As far as JSA is concerned I believe that this is paid 2 weeks in arrears. As far as I know this will be paid up until the day you begin work. Hopefully someone can confirm this or your job coach should tell you.
Don't forget to notify tax credits about your change of circumstances.
Also, you employer may be able to give you an advance of your wages if you need this.0 -
Brilliant thankyou! So with JSA, does that mean the day I sign off I should get two weeks of JSA as its in arrears?
Both SMI and HB go straight to the lender so that's cool.
Are there still things like Back to Work Grants etc and one off payments or have these all stopped now?
Thanks again0 -
Back to work grants have ended.
Not sure about the JSA. I think the JSA will be calculated up to the day you start work. Since it is paid 2 weeks in arrears you should get some JSA money even after you have started working.
Can anyone confirm?
If no one else replies ask at the Job Centre.0 -
