Lost over $500,000 due to a title typo!!

Somebody sold an old bottle of beer for $304 but failed to spell the title correctly - omitting a second 'P' from the brewers name - Allsopps. The buyer of the item then went on to relist it with a correct title and a it more detail - it sold for $503,300!!!

The original seller must be GUTTED!!!

This proves the need to research your items properly...

  • With feedback of only 19 for the winning bidder, I doubt the seller will get their money somehow!!
  • But there were plenty of other bidders willing to offer up to that amount so the seller will still get a decent price I reckon.

Doesn't seem to be any feedback left for the item between the seller and buyer? Strange. Wonder if this actually went ahead?

  • I hope to god he didn't accept Paypal then let the buyer collect....
You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...
  • i googled it - apprantly the highest bidder was a fake (it just had to happen), but the owner was still offered an "undisclosed" 6 figure sum for it. Still a good profit. I bet it tastes disgusting though - no one can be that desparate for a drink of beer surely.
I never missed a payment :T , I paid off all my credit cards :T , I paid of all my loans :T , i have a work mobile :T - but am now "medium" credit risk
  • I notice that the original listing does actually include the correct spelling in the description, though most keyword searches are for the title only.
However, on an item as rare as this, the key to a successful sale is probably more about publicity than spelling, or even than the second seller's more thorough research.
