Confused About Entitlement

HI All,

I am pregnant with my 1st child. I will be on mat leave for one year, starting this July. I will be paid SMP of about £140pw.

My partner lives with me - he works FT earning £20k/pa. My younger cousin also lives with me - she is 18 (19 in May), and currently looking for a job (she receives Universal Credit). She does not pay me any money and is not going to leave my home after the baby is born.

I have used various calculators and been told I will be entitled to different things.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and/or able to tell me what I'd be entitled to during mat leave (if anything)?

Many Thanks!

Although you can take a year maternity leave, you won't get SMP for the full year. SMP is paid for up to 39 weeks.

    You get:

    - 90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) for the first 6 weeks
    - £139.58 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks

Child benefit once baby is born, £20.70 per week.

Tax credits possibly, will depend on you and your partners income for 2015/16 tax year and 2016/17 tax year.

Your cousin should be paying her way. Water, electric gas, food. Plus rent.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Bills and food yes, but not rent. Under 25 and living with a relative the cousin will not get anything for housing.

Just because she wouldnt get anything in housing benefit doesnt mean she shouldnt be paying something out of the UC she does get.
