When my girlfriend and I signed our lease last year the landlord briefly told us that her deposit (from 2013) had been moved due to something to do with Safe Deposits Scotland. We were told we would get something in the post about it and that it would tell us where it would be kept, but we never got anything.
Fast forward until now and she emailed him yesterday to ask where the deposit was being kept and if the deposit could be kept in lieu of the last month's rent before we move out. The reply she got was a request for him to come over and talk in person. Does anyone have any idea why he didn't just say where it was?

Not a Scooby.
Maybe it was never registered with Safe Deposit Scotland, then again maybe it was. Maybe your landlord doesn't want to accept the deposit in lieu of the final months rent. The only person who can tell you is your landlord.0 -
I just found it a bit strange.
In regards to him keeping the deposit in lieu of the last month's rent, we offered for him to come over once we've given it a deep clean and point out any areas he thinks need touched up before we leave so he knows what condition the property will be in before we leave. The only reason we asked is because it makes it way easier for us to move into our new flat sooner.0
