Leaking polo.

I have a 2005 polo. It's leaking water somewhere. When it rains the passenger side front and back floor is saturated. It's just the floor that's wet, nowhere else. I've had it looked at but they can't find where the water is coming from and I wondered has anyone else had any experience of this or any ideas of where the water is coming from. Thanks.

It'll be leaking through the hole in the middle.
  • No sunroof.
  • Stick a smoke machine in it see where the smoke comes out, that's where the water gets in.

I had an old Mini that used to do this, took me ages to find the culprit.

Easiest thing is to get someone to squirt a hosepipe over the car whilst you sit inside and look for leaks. Common places are the windscreen surround, door seals and window seals.

But with mine it was a little more devious. It turned out it was a hole under the wheel arch, which I only discovered by spraying the hose up underneath the wheel arch - and it also explained why water only got in when I was driving in the wet, it was fine if left standing out in the rain. It's a bit more difficult to see as well, because you can't actually see the water coming in under the carpet, I just noticed the carpet getting wet.

    But it's worth a try.

Water can get inside the door through the glass opening. Check for unblocked door drains and that the plastic liner behind the door panel is attached.

The door ancillary carriers leak, the give away is water on top of the step when you open the door and water tracks or dripping between the interior panel and the door.

There's no plastic liner, just a big metal plate that's supposed to seal at its edges, also don't forget to refit the rubber washers on the panel clips if you remove the interior panel.

Get a watering can and empty along the base of the door glass and then check for leaks.

Doers the rear window washer work? If not it maybe the pipe has come apart or split somewhere due to it freezing etc ive had that on a Audi everytime i attempted to wash the window i washed the carpet only a thought my best bet would be blocked drain hole on the bulkhead or the door.
