Law Society Property Information Form not given to us

Hello all
Our draft contracts, deeds, TR1, etc forms arrived from our buying solicitor this week - great.
Only the Law Society Property Information Form was not given to us.
Having filled this our very carefully and helpfully for our buyer, I want to see the same from my vendor.
I know the form is optional.
I've asked my solicitor to request this. Hopefully the vendor will provide it at the first asking.
Having prepared mine with such effort, I am probably placing quite a weight on this form. Should I be strongly demanding this document?
I realise my options include walking away from the sale if they do not provide it, and proceeding to buy without it. I don't know of another option - is there one?
Thanks all
DC

Chill out!
Your vendor is probobly still filling it out Your solicitor has helpfully passed on the documents he has ready for you so far and more will follow.
How near Exchange are you?
Throwing a hissy ("I'm going to pull out") or even thinking of a hissy is pointless at this stage.0 -
Haha
Quite.
I don't want to pull out, I was just enumerating the known options.
I'm not sure how to judge proximity to exchange. Probably a couple of weeks - mortgage underwriters approved today but official offer not made, survey not done, otherwise all ducks aligned for a prompt process at both ends.
Thanks0 -
Some solicitors wait until they have all the documents and send in one massive pack. Some send them as they get them.
Instead of listing your options, just phone your solicitor and ask them to chase it!0 -
I thought it was mandatory - not optional??
Whatever the case - when you get it = make sure you keep it = permanently. You just never know when it might come in handy after the event.0 -
I was told it was optional, but that if you opt to use it you must complete it in full.
If it's mandatory, then great, I'll just wait some more without worrying.0 -
I'm not sure that it is mandatory, but given that you will probably ask most of the questions that it contains anyway it'll be quicker for all concerned if your vendor does complete it, otherwise you'll spend months going backwards and forwards with questions and answers.0

Whew! Well that's me learnt something for the day. A quick google as to whether its compulsory for this form to be filled in seemed to indicate that it isn't:eek:
I guess vendors/my little "charmer" of a vendor just fill them in anyway because one would get very suspicious if they weren't filled in. Also maybe a lot of vendors don't know its not compulsory legally.
When I swopped houses a couple of years back the thought never crossed my mind not to fill in one for my buyer - as I just assumed I had to do so. I would have done so anyway - as I wouldn't have wanted my buyer getting suspicious about whether I was trying to hide something.0 -
Indeed, that is one of my main issues. Yes, the information on it is extremely useful, but if someone failed to complete it (especially the part about disputes), I would wonder if they were hiding something.
Thanks, all, for your input.0
