Halifax product transfer

Me and husband are about to come to the end of our two year fixed rate. We cannot afford to switch to another lender due to the high costs involved. Halifax do a fairly straightforward product transfer so I hear. Has anyone done a product transfer with Halifax, if so do they delve into your credit history?. Mine isn't great due to being part time and earing less, and generally having more debt. But my husbands credit score is very good.

I'm only speculating somewhat, but my Mortgage with Halifax and the only time i've ever changed my product was to switch from a residential mortgage to a 'Consent to lease'. They were very thorough in terms of the application but they did confirm that they did not do a "formal" credit check, as such. I checked this with them first.

This may vary depending on the product. For example if you're changing the term or borrowing more money. Give them a quick call and simply ask the question.
