I've used that to leave early before, but never not turn up - one of my friends' cats had me in hospital with asthma once but I still visited, just not overnight
HBS x"I believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another."

Excuse for drink driving:
"I don't remember it, I must've blacked out"0 -
Reason for refusing an invitation was stated as 'We don't know what we're doing on that day yet.'
Happened to a friend of mine. She never invited them to anything after that.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
We always seem to the ones to visit certain members of the family and when we invited them to ours once the conversation went along the lines of:
"No, we can't come as the tyres are worn on the car and need changing"
"Oh, when are you getting them changed then?"
"We'll see when we get around to it"
I had to bite my tongue to not point out the sheer stupidity of having a hunk of metal parked outside that served no function because they were being tight. Utterly pathetic but now a long running joke in our household :rotfl:0 -
My sister once said that my birthday present had got lost, she then apparently chased up the company who said the order was cancelled. That was it, no sorry or I'll reorder it or a different present (it was only a nail varnish)
When my mum died, her biological sister rang me and said sorry I never came to see her "life got in the way" she was a nurse and my mum had told her how ill she was 2 years before she died. It's not what you want to hear a week after she's died.Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
'Sorry ive not contacted you but ive been busy' covers a multitude of sins..
Being busy isnt good enough. My husband often texts me from work whilst he is sitting on the bog.
What they really mean is 'your not important enough'.
I'd kill them!
Not knowing the difference between "your" and "you're", how dare they! :mad:0 -
My in laws couldn't come to see our new born daughter, who was recovering from heart surgery (she had the operation a day after she was born, they hadn't seen her at all ) because they had to buy new tiles for their bathroom.0

Someone wouldn't come to our wedding because they were worried that balloons popping would make them have an anxiety attack. We didn't have any balloons.0

I once beat someone in a tennis match who was generally a better player than me, and she loudly claimed that I'd only won because she was playing with the dog's racket.
She later explained that the dog had an old racket to play with and she'd picked it up by accident instead of her own.0
