flight changed day

If a flight we have booked and paid for then has a date change, are we able to claim all money back (via airline, not insurance) or just the airline charges and still pay the tax part.

I've looked in their (Air Canada) 'small print' and can't see anything and wondered if anyone had had a similar experience?

Thanks

    Has the flight number changed?

Is it from the UK to Canada?

The flight number had changed, I hadn't noticed until you asked.

    It's Canada to US.

If the original flight has been cancelled chances are you can get a full refund. Check the terms of your booking or call Air Canada.

If the flight has been cancelled you can't fly, the airline can't supply you with the flight you paid for.

I would expect a full refund to include any tax paid, and with no admin fee. However local law (assuming Canada) might say differently.

Thanks both. We called Air Canada and were told the money would be refunded, as we couldn't fly that day. To be honest we didn't ask exactly how much would be refunded. However on checking it appears only the flight has been and taxes and some other charges haven't been.
